On Being a Successful Graduate Student in the Sciences

In this article, Professor John N. Thompson, UC Santa Cruz, highlights what he considers to be the key elements in becoming a successful graduate student. Among other topics, he discusses the importance of setting goals for oneself and maintaining an efficient level of productivity, whilst keeping current on the literature through reading published articles and attending scientifics meetings.
